Wimborne is a historical and ancient market town, located in the District of East Dorset. It is near the A31 Trunk Road from the South West to London, offering a direct route to Southampton. Wimborne is only 20 minutes from the Bournemouth International Airport. The town has a population of around 6,710. Wimborne’s commercial significance is based largely on its industrial estates, says Vernon Pethard, Managing Director of www.newhomesforsale.co.uk,the UK’s top new homes property website.
The history of Wimborne dates back to 300 BC; however, it was during the period of King Alfred that the town gained popularity. The wonderful Minster was built in the tenth century, and then refurbished in the early thirteenth century. Despite enduring a massive growth during the last century, Wimborne has retained much of its historic architecture. Neighbouring towns include Blandford, Shaftesbury, Poole and Verwood.

Other major attractions include title page sketched by Holbein and fourteenth century text written on lambskin. A gift shop offers Christian souvenirs and literature.

Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, this traditional theatre has experienced a great revival during the last decade and attracts a large number of guests throughout the year. As well as the latest movie releases, live performances are also held here.
Priest’s House Museum: Dating back to the sixteenth century, this museum is housed in a grade II listed building. It features a number of period rooms including a school room and a Victorian kitchen. Detailed exhibitions cover the glorious local history as well as archaeological finds from East Forset. Boathouse tea rooms, located in the well-maintained wall gardens, provide light refreshments.
